FDR Homes

Post World Wars, Page 52 (RE-1)

The three stamps on the second row show an image of Franklin Roosevelt, the thirty-second president of the United States. Each also shows a home in which he lived: Hyde Park, his residence from birth in New York and where he and his wife Eleanor Roosevelt were buried when they died; Warm Springs in Georgia where he had what became known as Little White House, his weekend home; and the White House, the official residence of the President.

I think it’s interesting that we know about his homes and that they issued stamps commemorating them. The White House I understand, but not his personal properties. Of course, he was in office for a long time. He was elected to four terms as president. That was before there was a term limit. After he died, Congress passed an amendment to the Consitution limiting a president to two terms for a maximum of ten years.

Note

This page is complete with all of the stamps in mint, unused condition. I’ve had these for a long time in a stockbook. I used to prefer stockbooks, but now that I have the Leuchtturm pages, I prefer album pages.

Contains 15 spots: own 15 – 15 unused, 0 used.
Page is finished.

Footnotes

  • Spot refers to the postion of the stamp on the album page (e.g., 3.2 indicates row 3, position 2).

  • Amt. is an abbreviation for the face amount of the stamp.

  • Own indicates the stamp status: ✓ for unused; ✗ for used or canceled; ⭑ signifies I ordered one; ; ✨ indicates it was bought recently; ✠ means an auction bid is pending; and ◎ is used, and it costs too much for unused.

  • To search by catalog number, go to the search box and enter it in the catalog number box. However, it’s a bit broken; I need to fix it.
