Best Wishes
The Post Office issued another set of stamps for greeting cards and special occasions. I like the idea so much, but I’ve already written plenty about it on the Greeting Cards page. I guess they were popular so they added another Best Wishes and a few more: Happy Birthday, which they forgot for the first batch; an I Love You, which for many of us is a favorite things to say; and for those who aren’t ready for love, there’s Thinking of You.
The only problem is they raised the postage rate from twenty-two cents to twenty-five cents. So if you still had the previous year’s stamps and want to use them, you would have had to use one of them with a three-cent stamp from the Transporation Series.
By the way, the two Love stamps at the top of the album page work well with greeting cards and love letters. You can still use them today, but you might have to use three or more of them – I’m not sure what the cost is these days with it rising so fast. Regardless of the cost, you’ll make someone happy with a nice card or letter – with a good stamp affixed.
One other thing along these lines, I very much like sending post cards and encourage others to do th e same. A simple note with a colorful stamp on the back of a photo from a far off place will delight family and friends more than most people can imagine. Try it on your next trip.
Note
These are such bright and colorful stamps. I’m glad to see the Post Office hasn’t forgotten to produce such cheerful stamps. On that note, I question the express stamp at the bottom. Too serious, almost angry looking.
