Karki
The island of Karki, called currently Halki, is located in the Aegian Sea, a few miles west of Rodi. It’s one of the smallest islands of the Dodecanese islands with a population of about three-hundred people. Like the other islands in this zone, it was an Italian colony from about 1912 until 1947.
These stamps are Italian stamps for use only on this island. The definitives were overprinted with Karki. The Ferrucci stamps were overprinted, Calchi – which is closer to the Greek spelling, Halki. The Garibaldi commemoratives – issued later – were overprinted with a more Italian spelling, Carchi, which is pronounced, kar-ki.
Note
Unlike the stamps I have from the other islands, I don’t have any of the Ferrucci stamps. At some point long ago, I bought the Ferrucci stamps from all of the Dodecanese islands, but not for this one. I’m not sure why I missed this one. I’ll buy them some time soon.

To search by catalog number, go to the search box and enter it in the catalog number box. However, it’s a bit broken; I need to fix it.
