Columbus’ Life

It’s taking me time to write descriptions of each of the stamps on each of these pages. Hopefully, I’ll get this page written soon.

Note

These souvenir sheets contain reprints of a series of U.S. stamps commemorating Christopher Columbus and his voyages to the Americas. The stamps were issued in 1893 (see the Columbus page) – roughly on the four-hundredth anniversary. These souvenir sheets were issued on the five-hundredth annniversary.

An almost identical set of souvenir sheets were issued at the same time in Spain, Portugal, and Italy – the countries of origin of Columbus and his crew. I have the ones from Italy in my collection (see the Columbus Sheets page). There are few differences, such as the text is translated to Italian, and the face amount is in lira;

Contains 10 spots: own 10 – 10 unused, 0 used.
Page is finished.

Footnotes

Spot refers to the postion of the stamp on the album page (e.g., 3.2 indicates row 3, position 2).
Amt. is an abbreviation for the face amount of the stamp.
Own indicates the stamp status: ✓ for unused; ✗ for used or canceled; ⭑ signifies I ordered one; ; ✨ indicates it was bought recently; ✠ means an auction bid is pending; and ◎ is used, and it costs too much for unused.
To search by catalog number, go to the search box and enter it in the catalog number box. However, it’s a bit broken; I need to fix it.
