Imperialism

Occupations, Page FO12 (GR-3)

The top set of stamps are part of an imperial issue of definitives that the Fascists ordered from the Italian post office. They were meant to remind the public that the peninsula of Italy was at one time the home base of an empire and therefore it’s acceptable and natural for them to take foreign lands to build a new empire. They also reminded the public of who was the king.

The last two stamps at the bottom of this page were issued for express mail service in Fiumano Kupa.

Note

As I mention elsewhere, this is a new sub-album, including Fiume. I’m still adjusting the design of these album pages and acquiring the stamps. So check back in a couple of months to see if I’m making progress here.

  • Amt. is an abbreviation for the face amount of the stamp.

  • Own indicates the stamp status: ✓ for unused; ✗ for used or canceled; ⭑ signifies I ordered one; ; ✨ indicates it was bought recently; ✠ means an auction bid is pending; and ◎ is used, and it costs too much for unused.

  • To search by catalog number, go to the search box and enter it in the catalog number box. However, it’s a bit broken; I need to fix it.
