Uncle Sam
Text
Note
I’ve never cared for the icon of the United States as Uncle Sam. I had an Uncle Sam as a boy. That was just his American nickname. His name was Saverio Serio, which means literarly stern serious – something he was not. My grandmother called him, Sciavè (pronounced sha-veh). The name Saverio is the name Xavier in Sicilian.
