Indigenous Art

U.N. Geneva, Page UNG-2003.1 (BL-2)

The theme of this series of stamps is indigenous art. The plan is for each U.N. post office location to issue sheets of six unique stamps each, for a total of eighteen stamps. For the first set, the focus is on the art of Latin America and the Caribbean.

The first stamp here shows a close-up or detail of an Inca poncho from Peru. The second stamp shows a Bahia carving from Brazil. The next stamp is of a blanket from Ecuador. Then there’s a Mayan stone sculpture from Xunatunich in Belize. From Guatemala, there’s embroidered fabric. Last is Colima terra-cotta fabric from Mexico.

For more of these stamps depicting indigenous art from South America and surrounding area, see the New York (2003.1) and the Vienna (UNV 2003.1) albums. There’s also stamps in this album of indigenous art from Europe and North Africa.

Note

There’s plenty of space on this album page for more stamps. Leuchtturm does an excellent job making these album pages. I just wish they wouldn’t dedicate a whole page to one small sheet like this. They could have merged this page with the previous one with the two AIDS stamps. Maybe I’ll do that myself.

Contains 6 spots: own 6 – 6 unused, 0 used.
Page is finished.
