Schönbrunn

U.N. Vienna, Page UNV-98.4 (BL-3)

The Schönbrunn Palace is a massive structure located in Vienna, Austria. It has a history of over four-hundred years and has one-thousand four-hundred forty-one rooms and extensive gardens. It’s probably the most significant historical, architectural, and cultural site in Austria.

I’ve been to the Schönbrunn Palace. It reminds me of the Palace of Versailles outside Paris, except that Versaille is more beautiful like you’d expect French artistry would be. However, Schönbrunn is more interesting. Versailles was looted during the French revolutions, so many of the rooms are empty. Whereas, Schönbrunn is fully furnished. It contains art work, clothing, and many personal items. I remember seeing the writing desk of Emperor Franz Joseph I with a couple of books, a pen and ink well, and his eye-glasses resting on top of some papers. It gives the feeling that he was just there reading his letters.

Note

Second and third stamp on the first row are from a sheet, the rest of the stamps on this page (i.e., the ones with red text) are from brochure booklet.

As with other such booklets, I felt bad removing them. I may scan the booklet and post it here. I probably should have done that before I removed the stamps. I could post them like I do first-day covers for some U.N. stamps.

Contains 8 spots: own 8 – 8 unused, 0 used.
Page is finished.
