Peace Sowers
In 2007, for the New York, Geneva, and Vienna post offices, a pair of stamps was issued for each location related to peace. Each stamp had a unique design depicting “Peaceful Visions” made of people engaged in inward contemplation. The top two stamps on this page are from that set.
The first stamp is called, “The Sowers”. It’s meant to show a community of people dancing around the Earth while planting seeds. The trees are growing to indicate that their efforts can show results. It also indicates the interplay between humanity and nature. The second stamp perhaps shows people sitting under a tree and admiring it to indicate the benefits to humanity and how nature cares for us.
To see the other stamps in this set, see the top row of the New York UN-2007.2 album page and the top row of the Geneva UNG-2007.2 page.
Note
In case you’re curious about the stamps depicting space stations and exploration, they’re to commemorate the fiftieth anniversary of the U.N. Office for Outer Space Affairs. See the Space page of the Geneva album for more information.
