Boy Scouts
The first stamp on this page was issued to commemorate the fiftieth anniversary of the founding of the Boy Scouts of America. It was an organization meant to teach morals and ethics amongst boys, while building camaraderie and having fun. In 2018, in addition to boys, they changed their policy to allow girls, transgender, and homosexual children to join. To reflect this new inclusive policy, the name changed to Scouting America.
Also on this page is a stamp for the Camp Fire Girls – the last stamp at the bottom right. Camp Fire Girls is a similar organization to Boy Scouts, but for girls. The stamp commemorates its fiftieth anniversary. In 1975, they changed their name to Camp Fire Girls & Boys when they changed their policy to allow girls and boys.
Note
This year has another multi-color conservation stamp: this one for water conservataion. There are also more stamps that use more than two colors: the one of the Boy Scouts, the Camp Fire Girls, the flag, and others. It’s becoming a more colorful time – which is fitting since they’ve almost completely stopped making black and white movies, color televisions are being sold at reasonable prices, and people are using primarily color film for photography.
Incidentally, I’m somehow missing the Winter Olympic stamp in the middle of the top row. It was marked as a stamp I own, so I didn’t notice it until now. I’m going to the U.S. soon. I’ll try to get it when I’m there. The only problem is that I’ve already sent in my orders with the dealers there. I’d have to do another order, but I can’t do it for just this one low priced stamp. That means I’ll spend more money on other stamps to justify another order. I’ve already spent too much.
Contains 17 spots: own 17 – 17 unused, 0 used.
Page is finished.
