Bureau
These are postage stamps from the United States of America, starting when U.S. stamps were printed by the U.S. Bureau of Engraving and Printing in 1894. The first stamp they printed was a definitive depicting President James Garfield, the last stamp on the third row of the next album page. The Bureau would go on to print all U.S. stamps for 110 years.
Ideally for my purposes, since I’d like this album to begin with the Garfield stamp, I wish it was the first stamp at the top of that page and that any stamps issued before it were on the previous page. I could design my own page – actually, I did that before I was able to purchases these Leuchtturm pages – but I’m not that good by comparison at making album pages.
Note
I have almost all of the stamps for the U.S. after this sub-album – and many of the stamps for this one. The table below lists the pages that are missing stamps. Any page that is complete is not listed in this table.
My priority in searching for U.S. stamps has become a few of these pages in particular. I’ve marked them with a degree symbol (i.e., °). On those pages, you’ll see a banner at the top saying it’s a priority page. This means that I am trying to find the stamps to complete those pages.
