Mt. Rushmore
In South Dakota, if you don’t already know, there’s a set of carvings on the side of Mount Rushmore of four U.S. presidents: George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Theodore Roosevelt, and Abraham Lincoln. They represent respectively the nation’s birth, growth, development, and preservation.
Theodore Roosevelt in particular was chosen because he authorized several national parks and was very much into preservation and conservation of nature.
Note
Here’s another batch of stamps that aren’t very interesting or well designed. There’s the one of Mount Rushmore at the top – which is why I’ve named this page as I did. There’s also the small one at the bottom for NATO. It’s not very attractive, albeit better than the others on this page. What’s interesting is that it was issued just two years after NATO started. For something so grand, it’s pretty small.
The other stamp of note on this page is the one for the red cross at the bottom. It was done with two inks. I seem to remember a few other red cross stamps that were done this way, during times when multiple color printing of stamps was rare.
Contains 13 spots: own 13 – 13 unused, 0 used.
Page is finished.
