U.N. University
The stamp at the top of this album page celebrates the United Nations University. It began in 1972 with its main campus in Tokyo, Japan. It now has campuses in five countries and it the first international university.
U.N. University was first a research center focusing on three main areas: global development and inclusion; peace and governance; and environmental and energy related issues. They now offers masters and doctorate degrees related to their core areas of interest. Additionally, they have non-degree courses – in person and on-line.
Note
The artwork for the stamps on the third row were taken from paintings by Andrew Wyeth. They’re the same stamps that are part of the souvenir sheet on the next page. The paintings are described on that page.
The two stamps at the bottom are well done. They’re part of a set of stamps issued in New York, Geneva, and Vienna on the survival of children. See the Children Should Live page for more information.
Contains 8 spots: own 8 – 8 unused, 0 used.
