Valor Air Mail

Occupations, Page AI-10 (GR-3)

These stamps are to commemorate the hundred years since the Military Order of Italy medal was reinstated by Carlo Alberto I in 1833. I’ve written more on the history of this medal on the previous page.

The stamps depict scenes of several soldiers fighting in Italy’s wars. I’m not sure if they’re showing specific soldiers, though. Most of them were used for ordinary postage. A few of them, though, were semi-postal stamps. In addition to the regular postal amount, there’s an additional charge which was used for some sort of chartiy – probably some pet project of the Fascist party of the time.

Note

This page is complete. The layout is good, including the size of the boxes for the stamps. I did pretty good creating this page. However, I’m not very good at cutting the plastic mounts for them. I think I need a better cutter, but I haven’t found one. Maybe I’ve seen better ones on-line, but it’s hard to tell the quality from a photograph alone. I wish I could buy pre-cut ones that fit precisely. The best I can do is pre-cut mounts that are close to the size I want, requiring only one cut and not two to fit.

Contains 9 spots: own 9 – 9 unused, 0 used.
Page is finished.
