Kurt Waldheim

U.N. New York, Page 71.0 (BL-1)

Kurt Waldheim (1918 - 2007) was the fourth Secretary-General of U.N., serving from 1972 to 1982. He was subsequently president of Austria from 1986 to 1992. In 1986, after his service to the U.N. and while campaigning for Austrian presidency, it was uncovered that he was a Nazi intelligence office during World War II.

Note

The stamps on the album pages in this section of my collection of United Nations stamps were issued while Kurt Waldheim was the Secretary General. There may be some stamps that were issued before and after his departure because that’s how the stamps on the album pages are layed out by Leuchtturm. I don’t want to create my own printed album pages for that overlapping period. As they are now is close enough for me.
