35th Anniversary

U.N. New York, Page 80.2 (BL-1)

This souvenir sheet was issued to celebrate the thirty-fifth anniversary of the United Nations. Several countries became members of the United Nations since the last souvenir sheet was issued in October 1975 for the thirtieth anniversary. In fact, they added thirteen this time.

Eight island nations became members of the U.N.: Papua New Guinea, Comoros, Dominica, Samoa, Saint Lucia, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Seychelles, and Solomon Islands. Three countries from mainland Africx – Angola, Djibouti, and Zimbabwe – were admitted. One from South America, Suriname, and one from Asia, Viet Nam joined.

Note

There’s no theme or slogan for this five-year anniversary. I guess they realized what I’m been saying, that there’s no point to them – or that they’re redundant. The sheet stamps matching these two stamps are on the previous album page, at the end of the second row.

Contains 1 spots: own 1 – 1 unused, 0 used.

Footnotes

  • Spot refers to the postion of the stamp on the album page (e.g., 3.2 indicates row 3, position 2).

  • Amt. is an abbreviation for the face amount of the stamp.

  • Own indicates the stamp status: ✓ for unused; ✗ for used or canceled; ⭑ signifies I ordered one; ; ✨ indicates it was bought recently; ✠ means an auction bid is pending; and ◎ is used, and it costs too much for unused.

  • To search by catalog number, go to the search box and enter it in the catalog number box. However, it’s a bit broken; I need to fix it.
