Flag Coils

Colorful Years, Page 86-CP (RE-2)

Since stamps of Washington, Franklin, and Lincoln are no longer the main choice for definitives, it would see that stamps with the U.S. flag are dominating definitives. There are a few like the ones at the top in which the flag is flying in the foreground, with a famous government building in the background (such as the capitol, Supreme Court, and other buildings), or a scene from the America the Beautiful song (e.g., amber waves of grains).

Note

These stamps were printed in a coil for distrubution from vending machines at the post office – which can be convenient after closing hours. Most of them are line-pairs. For a description of that, see my Line Pairs album page.

I’ve tried to collect only line-pairs of coil stamps, although I’m not entirely convinced of that preference. The ones of flags here are not line-pairs, though. I couldn’t find them for sale anywhere. I figured it’s better to have something than nothing. I may replace them one day – if I find them.

Contains 7 spots: own 7 – 7 unused, 0 used.

Footnotes

  • Spot refers to the postion of the stamp on the album page (e.g., 3.2 indicates row 3, position 2).

  • Amt. is an abbreviation for the face amount of the stamp.

  • Own indicates the stamp status: ✓ for unused; ✗ for used or canceled; ⭑ signifies I ordered one; ; ✨ indicates it was bought recently; ✠ means an auction bid is pending; and ◎ is used, and it costs too much for unused.

  • To search by catalog number, go to the search box and enter it in the catalog number box. However, it’s a bit broken; I need to fix it.
