King Kamehameha I

Bureau of Engraving, Page 45 (GR-1)

Anyone who enjoyed watching the original Magnum P.I. television series from the 1980s with Tom Sellick, will recognize the name King Kamehameha. That was the name of the beach front country club where the character, Rick Wright was the manager and Jonathan Higgins was on the governing board – and where Thomas Magnum hung out and had a large tab he never seemed to pay.

The vertical stamp at the top of the page, the only one on the first row of this album page shows a statue of King Kamehameha I, which is located in front of the Aliʻiōlani Hale building – which is where the Hawaii Supreme Court meets.

Note

There aren’t many spaces for stamps on this page. I have all of them and have had them for a long time. Although the stamp of King Kamehameha is unrelated to the national park theme of the other stamps on this page, I’m glad Leuchtturm put it at the top. I hope to go to Honolulu one day and see that statue. I’m thinking about going later this year. The cost of the flight isn’t too bad from Milan.
