Donaupark
The U.N. offices in Vienna openned in 1980 in a park located near the Danube river – known as Danaupark. The stamp in the middle of the second row and the one by itself on the third row of this album page show drawings of the buildings.
The Viena campus is the headquarters for several U.N. agencies: the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), the inspectors that make sure countries with nuclear plants aren’t enriching uranium for bombs; the U.N. Commission on International Trade Law; the U.N. Industrial Development Organization (see Medicinal Plants page); the U.N. Office for Outer Space Affairs (see Satelites); etc.
Note
The caption of the stamp at the top of this album page says in German, live in peace. That’s a reference to the Preamble to the U.N. Charter. See the Live in Peace page.
