Diagonal Overprint
These stamps are identical to the ones on the first page of this sub-album, except that this one includes the 1 Lira stamp at the bottom of the page. The other and more noticeable difference is that the name, Castelrosso is overprinted diagonally across the face of these.
I’m not sure why they printed them diagonally. You might think they’re diagonal because the name is so long, but the name fits on the stamps on the first page without any problem. I may be wrong, but they’re the only Italian stamps with diagonal overprint that I have found. I very much dislike this feature.
Note
These stamps weren’t hard to find from stamp dealers in Italy, and they weren’t very expensive. Although I find the diagonal overprint disconcerting, I’m glad to have all of them and the page complete. However, the page isn’t finished. I need to adjust the size of the boxes in Adobe Photoshop. The stamps are touching the top border of each box. Or maybe I need to position the plastic mounts better. Whatever is the cause, I need to reprint and redo this page.
Contains 10 spots: own 10 – 10 unused, 0 used.
Page is finished.
