City Summit
The second U.N. conference on Human Settlements, called Habitat II was held at Istanbul in 1996. It was referred to as the City Summmit. Incidentally, Habitat I was held twenty years before.
The City Summit was a conference of delegates from many nations, along with non-governmental agencies, businesses, educational organizations, and reserach groups. They discussed providing at least the basics of homes all people, as well as having more sanitary and safer cities. These are some of the elements of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.
