Parcel Post
As I mentioned and explained on the previous page, these stamps were for shipping packages with the Italian post office. One half was attached to the package and the other to the receipt sent back to the sender to indicate the package was delivered. I suggest you read the text on the previous page, if you haven’t already, to learn more about these stamps and Italy’s parcel postal history.
Note
When I first started collecting Italian stamps about thirty years ago, when I was living in the U.S., I thought these parcel postage stamps were neat and wanted to get all of them. Instead, I was only able to acquire a few of them and all used and singles. For a couple of them, I had the left and right ones used, but separately. I so wanted to get them as still intact unused pairs. Not only didn’t I have access to these stamps because the local dealers didn’t have any in stock and there was no internet on which to order them from out-of-town, or from Italy.
But now I have many of them. In time I will have all of them. It’s satisfying in general, but in part because I know it’s because I’m able to get them because I’m in Italy, being an Italian citizen now, and because I have a good income to be able to afford these purchases and because I have a understanding and supportive wife now who is fine with me spending money on such things. I’m very fortunate and I know it.
