Jubaland
Oltre Giuba, known in English as Trans-Juba or Jubaland, was located on the horn of Africa, along the coast of the Indian Ocean. It was once part of British East Africa, which is now known as Kenya. It was between British East Africa and Somaliland, on the west side of the Juba river. Hence the name from the Somalian perspective: Oltre Giuba in Italian, which translates to Beyond Juba.
In 1924, as a compensation for Italy’s part in helping to win World War I, England gave Oltre Giuba to them, making it a colony of the Kingdom of Italy. In 1925, it was made part of the Italian Somaliland colony, which was known in Italian and still is known as Somalia.
Note
This album is almost finished. I found and bought recently the parcel post stamps – that stamp will be finished soon. All that will remain are two stamps of the King for his jubilee. I’ve seen the pair for sale for about a thousand euros. I’m hoping that I find them at a much cheaper price, maybe at an auction. I really would like to be finished with this album. I may redo the layout for second page. I didn’t allocat enough space for those jubilee stamps. Plus, I may arrange them, differently. I might follow order of the catalog numbers.
