Boston Statehouse
The Boston statehouse – more accurately referred to as the Massachusetts statehouse – is the capitol building for the state of Massachusetts and is located in Boston. It was designed by Charles Bulfinch and built in the 1790s, near the start of the nation.
As a boy, I went to Boston many times: we lived in Peabody, Massachusetts. I seem to remember taking a school trip to Boston which including going inside the capitol building. Besides some good memories of this building, it’s very attractive looking in particular because of the dome roof. It was originally covered in copper by Paul Revere, but later a layer of gold leaf was added – which is how I remember it.
Note
This page is a bit dull because there are three sets of four stamps in each set. It’s nicer when there are individual stamps not part of a set mixed in. However, I do like the architectural stamps, in particular the one of the state capital building in Boston. Those stamps have a clean design and simple colors, and I’ve been to the one in Boston the most.
