General Assembly

U.N. New York, Page 57.1 (BL-1)

The notion of the General Assembley of the U.N. is when delegates of all of the member nations and observers meet. The main headquarters of the U.N. is in New York; the main meeting place there for the General Assembley is in the plenary hall located in the General Assembley Building.

The first stamp on the album page and the one below it were issued to commemorate the General Assembley Hall in New York. When I was a boy, I visited the U.N. in New York and was in the balcony of the plenary hall where the public is allowed to watch U.N. meetings. It was so cool and very exciting to me.

Note

The stamps on this page are about as drab as the previous years, except that I do find the design of the two commemorating the General Assembley Hall to be nice looking. But it may be because of my fond memories of when I visited it as a boy.
