Vienna
The U.N. Postal Administration made an agreement with the Austrian government in 1979 to establish a U.N. post office at the U.N. headquarters in Vienna, an agreement that they would accept mail from the U.N. using their own stamps. As part of that, those stamps were issued with the then currency of Austria, schillings. Later, when Austria switched to the euro, U.N. stamps from Vienna were in euros.
This album contains U.N. stamps issued in Vienna. So far I have only Leuchtturm pages from 1979 to 1999. I’ll buy and add more pages, but not any time soon. I just have too many other stamp collecting tasks to do. I’d like to write the stories and notes for all of the pages I’ve already posted. That’s a slow process.
Note
For my U.N. collection, I previously had them in a stock book. Recently, I’ve replaced it with album pages from Lighthouse (Leuchtturm). Although the U.N. continues to issue stamps past 1999, I don’t yet have the album pages for the later years. Once I get more pages, I’ll scan them and upload them to this site. Of the pages I have here, I have all of the stamps in this album.
